The Columbia Convention and Visitor's Bureau has launched an interactive map of local points of interest. While the Web site link is designed for visitors, people who live in the city can use it to help get around.
The map was added on March 21 to the Web site, www.VisitColumbiaMO.com. After clicking on the map on the upper right side of the home page, viewers can use pull-down menus to select locations in categories such as dining, museums and shopping. With one click, the map will zero in on a selected point of interest and provide a brief description and contact information in a pop-up window.
In addition, all of Columbia's recreational trails can be highlighted and viewed in detail. The map also provides a detailed view of both the University of Missouri's campus and the downtown area.
The map is a product of Map Network, a company that customizes online city maps with an emphasis on tourism related uses.
