The University of Missouri has appointed Roger L. Worthington chief diversity officer. Worthington will coordinate the university's equal opportunity and affirmative action efforts and consult on matters of diversity. He had been serving as interim chief diversity officer. After serving as an assistant professor in Boston College's psychology department, in 1997 Worthington took an assistant professor position in MU's Department of Educational, School and Counseling Psychology.

The Columbia and Jefferson City Boards of Realtors have named Elizabeth G. Holden their director of government affairs. Holden will assist the Realtors boards in working with government officials and other stakeholders. She has been president and CEO of local consulting firm PrimePoint LLC since 2006 and has served as a senior fellow with nonpartisan think tank Performance Institute in Washington, D.C., since 2005. Previously she provided consulting and training services to government and nonprofit organizations on behalf of the University of Missouri's Harry S. Truman School of Public Affairs.

Allen Goree, Ford Mendenhall and Wendy Swetz recently joined the board of trustees for Boys & Girls Town of Missouri Central Region, a Columbia-based residential and outreach program serving young people affected by abuse, neglect, emotional problems and behavioral problems. Goree is the CEO of Missouri Heart Center. Mendenhall is an agent with RE/MAX Boone Realty. Swetz is owner of Gateway Mortgage. Each will serve a three-year term.

Chancellor Brady Deaton presented 10 Mizzou Inclusive Excellence Awards at this month's Mizzou Diversity Summit sponsored by the Chancellor's Diversity Initiative. The awards recognized University of Missouri-affiliated individuals and groups who have made exemplary contributions to diversity in academics, student life, employment or leadership through work dealing with gender, race, ethnicity, language, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, abilities and disabilities, national and geographical origin, economic strata and political views. The honorees were Anand Prahlad, Jeff Williams, Heather Carver, Kevin Babbitt, John David, Ranadhir Mitra, Lance Pierce, Carol Snively, Gary Wunder and the MU Extension Catalyst Team.

Boys & Girls Town of Missouri has honored Sheri Rentschler and Amy Sprouse with Star Volunteer awards. Rentschler was a member of the inaugural Diamond Night fund-raising event committee and served as co-chair for the event the following year. Sprouse volunteered at the agency's Changing Prisms mentoring event for girls in 2006 and served as co-chair for Diamond Night in 2007. In the last two years, Diamond Night has raised more than $120,000 for treatment programs for children with behavioral and emotional problems.

The Missouri Interscholastic Press Association has named Rock Bridge High School Principal Kathy Ritter Journalism Administrator of the Year for her support of student journalism and freedom of speech. Ritter was nominated by students on the staff of the school's newspaper, The Rock, and their adviser, Robin Stover. Rock Bridge students also took home more than 15 MIPA awards for writing, reporting and design.
