New restaurant-market opening in Cherry Hill

The Cherry Hill Market & Café will open in May in the building formerly occupied by the Upper Crust café and bakery.

The motto of Kate and Roy Finley’s venture is “simple, fresh and local.” The staff will serve breakfast and lunch and will sell baked goods and deli items along with a meat and produce market that features local products.

Some of the locally produced goods they’ll sell include dairy products from Central Dairy, coffee from Lakota, honey from Walkabout Farms, eggs from JJR Farms, cheese from Goatsbeard Farms and bagels from B&B Bagels.

“We’ll use as much local produce as possible,” Kate Finley said.

Roy Finley is one of the original developers of the Village of Cherry Hill at Scott Boulevard and Chapel Hill Road. His crews built the first house and five retail buildings, including the Merchant Street building where the market and café is opening at the eastern corner. Kate Finley said they’re now doing “a little bit of remodeling.”

The original tenant was Wildflour Bake House, and the Upper Crust closed in October. The Village of Cherry Hill has been developing since 1999 and now has more than 50 businesses and loft apartments in the Town Center, which is flanked by townhouses and residential condominiums.
