Craigslist founder speaking at Chamber Showcase
Craig Newmark, founder of craigslist, will be the luncheon speaker at the Columbia Chamber of Commerce Business Showcase on April 6.
Newmark will be talking about social networking and how it relates to marketing, the Chamber said in a news release Wednesday.
Newmark was recently named to Business Week’s list of The 25 Most Influential People on the Web for his work with craigslist, a combination of social networking, e-commerce and classified ads.
He founded craigslist in 1995 as an online community to connect buyers and sellers in San Francisco. Craigslist has now expanded to include more than 570 community sites and sees more than 22 billion visitors per month, making it one of the world’s most popular Web sites. Although he passed the position of CEO on to Jim Buckmaster, Craig still works for craigslist as a customer service representative.
Tickets are available online at ColumbiaMoChamber.com or by calling the Chamber at (573) 874-1132.
