Hirings

Sara Broderick is joining Pure as an account executive, and Amy DiFrancesco is joining Pure as a new media specialist. Broderick brings extensive branded communication experience to the agency after serving as a senior editor for Imagination Publishing in Chicago and recently in marketing communications in the University of Missouri Development Office. DiFrancesco recently graduated from the University of Missouri School of Journalism with a degree in convergence journalism.

Eisele

TimeLine Recruiting, a health care recruiting firm, announced the addition of John Eisele as a marketer. Eisele comes to TimeLine with more than 14 years of sales and recruiting experience in the fields of technology and health care.

Dodson

TRYPS Children’s Theater hired graphic designer Jim Dodson. Dodson has more than two decades of experience. He began his career with Harcourt Brace and received multiple awards — including an Addy — for his design work with Texas Christian University. Dodson is establishing his own freelance graphic design company in Columbia, By Clever Design.

Agents National Title Insurance Company announced the addition of Lenora Barnes as executive secretary to David Townsend, the president and CEO. Lenora has more than 25 years of administrative assistant experience. At Bank of America, she worked for several consumer market executives and CEOs and was secretary to the board of directors. Lenora lives in New Franklin.

Jarin Wood has joined Phoenix Programs Inc. as a development officer. Wood previously held a position with the University of Missouri as assistant director of Student and Auxiliary Services. He is also a certified professional public buyer.

Awards

The Berry Building owned by John Ott is one of the seven properties added to the list of the city's Most Notable Properties. The additions were announced Feb. 1 by the Columbia Historic Preservation Commission. The renovated Berry Building at the southwest corner of Walnut and Orr streets has been renovated and now houses Wilson's Fitness in the lower level. It is one of 20 commercial buildings on the list.

Chris Evans has been promoted to media director for True Media-USA. Evans joined True Media in the summer of 2009 as associate media director and brought with him eight years of experience as a media planner and supervisor of traditional and new media for Starcom MediaVest Group in Detroit. Evans' previous agency experience includes developing media plans for national and regional accounts such as Hummer, Cadillac, Pontiac and Goodwrench. In his new role, Evans will be responsible for the overall philosophy and strategic planning for True Media's clients. He will oversee True Media's staff of planners and buyers in the Columbia and St. Louis offices as well as handle the agency's numerous research and software vendor relationships.

JW Broadcasting affiliates ABC 17/FOX 22/MyZouTV/ABC 17 STORMTRACK 24/7 General Manager Gene Steinberg appointed Jeff Page to be general sales manager for the media group and its properties. Page has been with the station since February 2003 and has served as the local sales manager for the past six years. Page's business experience includes 27 years in sales and sales management, 17 of those years in the furniture industry. Page's new duties include overseeing all areas of sales for the four television stations and multiple Web sites, including national, regional and local sales, as well as sales-team recruitment and training.

Jheri Keith Alkire joins William Woods University as the new dean of business for the WWU graduate and adult studies program. She comes to William Woods from Ottawa University in Kansas, where she served as an assistant professor and coordinator for 10 years. Alkire has been an assistant professor and adjunct coordinator at Ottawa University since 2006 and taught graduate classes and advised graduate and adult studies students.

Appointments

Third Ward Councilman Karl Skala will serve on a leadership training council sponsored by the National League of Cities. The NLC appointed Skala to help shape the organization's leadership development activities for members throughout the year. Skala, Missouri's only appointee, will serve with 37 other city officials from across the country.

According to its Web site, the league is committed to strengthening and promoting the leadership capacity of our nation's local elected officials. The Leadership Training Institute provides local city officials with seminars and other professional development opportunities to help them promote positive change and innovation within their communities.

Board Elections

Phoenix Programs elected new officers and board members: Greg Reed, president; Steve Smith, vice president; Brock Bukowsky, treasurer; Elizabeth Leatherman, secretary. Each will serve a term of one year. Phoenix Programs has a 35-year history of meeting the community's needs for education and treatment for people and families with addiction.
