Downtown Developments: Pickleman's opens, computer store moves
January 28,2008
Pickleman’s opened its second cafe last week at 1106 East Broadway, in the space formerly occupied by Gunther’s Games. Owner Doug Stritzel, who opened the original Pickleman’s in southern Columbia on Old Highway 63, told CBT he plans to hire an area manager and concentrate on selling Pickleman’s franchises.
Personalized Computers this month moved eight blocks, from 1017 E. Broadway to 207 E. Broadway, to a building that has more space and its own parking lot for customers.
In other downtown moves along Broadway Street, Les and Molly Wagner will open Billiards on Broadway in the former Shattered nightclub location in February and Shiloh Bar & Grill will move into the historic train station building formerly housing Katy Station and Coliseum Bistro once interior renovations are finished. Jack Rader is also renovating the former location of Shiloh on South 6th Street and has renamed the business Bengal Bar & Grill.
A block north of Broadway on 9th Street, Smokin’ Chick’s BBQ will open a second restaurant next month at the former location of Cucina Sorella. Other restaurants opening in the coming months are Bleu, at the northwest corner of Eighth and Cherry streets and The Rome on Ninth Street where Columbia Billiards used to be.
