Director to leave United Way

David Franta, executive director of the Columbia Area United Way, will be resigning his position effective June 1, 2008, the organization announced on Friday. Franta's wife, Pamela Franta has recently been hired as vice-president of organizational consulting by Psychological Associates, Inc. of St Louis.  David will eventually be relocating and pursuing other career opportunities in the St Louis area.

Franta has directed the Columbia Area United Way since August 1990.  During his service, United Way donors and volunteers have increased giving from $1,045,023 (1989) to $3,117,111, the amount reported last November as an initial result of the fall 2007 effort.
